Urgent Need - Fabric Face Masks Before I get to the Shop, there is a more pressing need to address. Yesterday I received a text from my niece Sarah who works for Tufts Medical in Urgent Care. She told me they were running out of protective masks and were trying to preserve the limited supply they have by using fabric face masks to cover the real ones, thus extending the usage of their masks. For those of you who sew, this is an urgent need and something you can do while home. Sarah's group is not alone. Many hospitals and clinics have also put out this request. If you do not have fabric at home to use, I am offering to ship the pattern, fabric, thread, and hair bands (you will understand) to you so you can get busy with this need. Many of you know I probably have as much personal fabric as I have yarn and I know a lot of you do too. It is easy sewing and I am going to set up a Zoom chat to go over the specifics of the face mask. I will also include directions as we need to make an insert pocket for the actual masks to go into. The basic pattern we are using is the one put out on by CraftPassion - Click for Face Mask Pattern Please let me know if you need a fabric pack and I will get one out to you right away. There is no charge for this package and I will include a return package so you can ship them back to me for Sarah. Join me at 1.00 today for a Zoom session on face masks. |

The Shop As this devastating situation continues to unfold, we have made the difficult decision to stop all In-Store shopping. I personally feel terrible as so many of people have come in thanking me for being open, giving them a chance to grab a project, a set of needles, or just to see the yarn. But that being said - we are still Open for business in a variety of ways. 1. Shopping - there will be several ways you can continue to shop with us. I will be in the shop taking phone and on-lines orders and getting them shipped out. If you call the shop and I do not answer, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I am happy to set up appointments via teleconference or video to help pick out a project / select yarn I will still be doing special orders for our customers as long as our vendors are open. We will continue to provide 15% off all yarn for the next few weeks. If you wish to purchase on-line, the coupon code is AY15. Please feel free to share this with anyone. Also, please watch for our Video/Virtual Trunk Shows, Yarn highlights as we unveil new Spring and Summer Yarns, and Special Shopping Events. 2. Video - We would like you all to go to Zoom (www.zoom.com on your computer browser or install the app on your phones or tablets. It is free. We will be setting us social knitting times, as well as help sessions, Sweater Club, and virtual trunk shows. For those of you who cannot access Zoom, next week we will be setting up a YouTube Channel (I know, now that is scary!). We will be putting up our techniques classes, especially those for Sweater Club. If anyone needs help with either of these technologies, let us know and we will get you up and running. 3. All Classes - we have stopped all in store Classes, but all of our Drop-in Classes will now take place via Zoom. One of our teachers will be available on those times and will be happy to answer any questions, guide you through your projects, etc. We will not be charging for these sessions, but our teachers will be paid. Our Drop-in Classes are: Monday - 10 - 12 Tuesday - 10 - 12 and 7 - 9 Wednesday 10 - 12 Friday 10 - 12 4. Social Knitting - we had a very successful social knitting night last night via Zoom and will be continuing this every Thursday evening from 7-9. The Basic free Zoom is limited in what it provides. If there are groups of you who wish to meet via Zoom, please let me know and I am happy to set up sessions for you via our service with one of you as host - not me. Again and again, thank you, to the most incredible team and to all of our customer. Please do all you can to stay healthy and safe. We are planning to be around for a long time and want you to be with us! |
